Larciano Castle
Dominantly positioned over the Valdinievole, in the small hamlet of Larciano Castello, portions of the thirteenth century boundary walls can still be found. These walls originally measured 1000 meters in length and had two entrances called Bagno and S. Marci. Inside the walls, on top of the hill, stands the fortress whose main structure is the tall quadrangular tower, from where one can enjoy breathtaking views that sweep from Valdinievole as far as Valdarno Inferiore. The fortress hosts the Municipal Museum that was inaugurated in 1975. The objects on exhibit essentially come from the eastern area of Valdinievole and cover periods from prehistoric to the late Renaissance.
