Basilio Cascella
Basilio Cascella was the father of a family of artists. As a painter, ceramist, lithographer, publisher and progenitor of modern advertisement artwork his talent was multifaceted. Over the course of his life he made friends with renowned artists of his time, such as Gabriele D’Annunzio, Medardo Rosso, Puccini, Mascagni. His works were displayed at art exhibitions in Turin, Venice, London, Naples, Palermo and in several other cities both in Italy and abroad.
An indelible sign of his talent was left in Montecatini, inside the Tettuccio thermal establishment, whose Galleria della mescita delle Acque (The Water Gallery) is decorated with seven astonishing ceramic panels that reproduce the seasons of life: Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood and Old age, interwoven with Beauty, Strength, and the Source of Life.
